Holly

My name is Holly Duffy, I am a 3L and visiting student at UCLA School of Law.

This semester I am externing with the Kosovo Specialist Prosecutor’s Office through The Promise Institute Europe.

I decided to come to The Hague for my last semester at UCLA Law because I knew it would give me the opportunity to put everything that I’ve learned throughout law school into practice, to build invaluable connections in the field of international law, and to make a meaningful contribution to the global struggle for justice.

My first impression on arriving in the Netherlands was feeling excited about the public transportation and biking infrastructure. I love being able to cycle anywhere I want to go in The Hague and every other city is just a short train ride away.

In the first weeks of my internship, I have helped with compiling evidence from witness statements, provided feedback on motions, and had several opportunities to do really interesting, and often novel, legal research for different case teams in the Specialist Prosecutor’s Office. The experience of not only getting to see firsthand what goes into building large-scale international cases, but actually being able to contribute to such meaningful work has been absolutely invaluable and I can’t recommend this opportunity enough.
